The Scent of Memory
Something to consider when you start to talk to your wedding florist about flowers and their design, is the broader context that surrounds flowers. Flowers are deeply evocative, and this is not only because of how they look or the colour of their petals. How about the curve of the stem? Or the scent when they first open and how that changes over time? What about the flowers you passed everyday in your family home on the way to school? Or the perfume your Granny wore that reminded you of the sun in spring and the Primroses outside the flat window? How about the flowers that your step Mum always had in a vase and the memory of her dancing? Or the sound of bees feasting on the flowers of fragrant winter Honeysuckle that came up in one particular part of the hedge along the road as you walked home from work (true story)?
Think about colours of rooms and spaces you enjoy being in.
Think about that wallpaper you have on your Future Home Pinterest board and how it reminds you of the AirBnB you both visited a couple of years ago.
Think about the music you enjoy listening to and the food you want to cook.
Think about how you want to make your guests feel and what music you are going to dance to.
And then tell your wedding florist this. Let your florist into your lives a little and show them around. Trust that they will see you and appreciate you.
I certainly find that the more I know about a client, the more able I feel to make really good choices on their behalf. If I can get to know you and understand the fuller vision, then I can bring designs and ideas that inspire and thrill us all equally.
