The Gallivant

Down a winding, increasingly sandy road, where the dunes run along the pavement and the smell of salt is whipped up into the air, a small hotel is nestled. This quiet, snug spot is the beautifully designed and thoughtfully curated The Gallivant. I had never been to this place until the autumn of 2023, and walking through it’s doors was like walking into a quiet haven, the coziness tangibly hanging in the air of the reception area, a place full of nooks and crannies, seating areas tucked away from the main bar and low lighting. This truly feels a million miles away from London and the surrounding busyness of the southern counties. You feel you could disappear for days down here, in Camber Sands, spending hours amongst the dunes, walking the miles of sandy beach and exploring the remote, very small and still relatively untouched villages along the coast here, such as Lydd.

Only a 10 minute drive from the bustling and creative Rye, The Gallivant in Camber Sands is easy to get to. Visitors from London and abroad would be treated to a truly decadent sojourn by the beach. At The Gallivant, every detail has been considered and thoughtfully provided - although remote and hidden away, the facilities provided are exquisite and options available for guests are plentiful.

For weddings, The Gallivant is a unique choice. The team here know how to throw a good party!

Weddings are intimate, bespoke, and each guest is bound to fall in love with this bolt hole on the English coast.

An easy reach from London, wedding couples will feel able to treat their guests to a truly unique experience. The food, service and attention to detail matches any good quality experience in London, but the atmosphere and location couldn’t be more different!

For a wedding venue in the south east, accessible from London, Kent, Surrey or Sussex, The Gallivant at Camber Sands must be considered.

Along the coastal road back to the west from The Gallivant, a 10 minute drive will bring you and your guests to Rye, a bustling seaside town with a rich history. Here you will find excellent places to eat, a thriving shopping scene, and the beautiful town church. Beyond is the nature reserve - another open space to enjoy during your stay.

Weddings at The Gallivant will inevitably be special. As one of their recommended suppliers I always look forward to creating designs here that are truly fitting to each client and their event. Wedding flowers are unique and perfectly adept at reflecting the tastes and aesthetic choices of the wedding couple. Colours, textures, form and shape can be explored through flowers to create floral designs that stun both you and your guests.

I had the opportunity to create a beautiful array of designs for a shoot here last autumn - a florist’s dream! Colours were chosen to reflect the soft jewel tones of the crockery and tableware, and designs were abundant and full. The colours took on a washed-out look, as if bleached by the summer sun.

Roses, Orchids, Cosmos…so many of the late summer blooms were still available and for a wedding at The Gallivant these flowers were so perfect.
