Sisters shoot
Back in October I asked two dear friends to model a pair of hair crowns for me. I was toying with the idea of creating a series of hair crowns using only dried and preserved flowers. These crowns could become heirlooms and treasured possessions, beyond the usual one-day outing most florals get for a wedding. I love the idea of creating something long lasting and the contrast between the dried, mottled tones of the hydrangea bracts, spiky petals of the Helichrysum, and the snow-white perfection of a few stunning Orchids was a real fascination for me, creatively.
I asked Annie and Brydi to model for me as they are willing friends who just so happen to be very beautiful and happy to model in return for free food and cuddles with babies. The results, I believe, speak for themselves. “Timeless beauty” is an oft used phrase, but I feel here it is wholly apt. Noble in their beauty, I am thrilled with the results shown in these stunning photographs by Elena Popa.
It is now approaching Christmas, and in the preparation and run up to the festivities I return to these images as they resurface in my mind, itching to be seen and ready for a wider audience. Watch this space…
